We spend more time with our workmates than we do with our own families, for this reason we see the right people at work as the most important part of the operation. ORL has built up a team of 30 people. We look for the right person and help them find the right position regardless of qualifications and experience. Landscape Leading Hand

About the Role
Join our team of 30+ passionate and approachable industry professionals of all genders and ages. We’re committed to supporting people as they grow and sustain meaningful careers in the landscaping industry.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this full-time Landscape Leading Hand role is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of landscaping projects for our clients in the Surf Coast, Geelong and the Bellarine. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical part in ensuring our clients’ visions are brought to life through expert project management, client communication, and on-site team leadership.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and executing detailed project plans ranging from small- or large-scale landscaping projects

  • Managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

  • Supervising and coordinating the on-site landscaping team to deliver high-quality work

  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients through regular communication

  • Identifying opportunities to improve project efficiency and profitability

  • Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards

What we are looking for

  • Strong working knowledge and skills of landscaping materials, techniques, and equipment, in soft and hard landscaping.

  • Some plant knowledge and irrigation experience

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients, design team, office administration and on site team

  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality results

  • Operation of bobcat, excavator and Kanga, along with trucks and other vehicles- desirable

    • MR License – or can be obtained 

    • Excavator, Bobcat and Kanga use – extra training can be provided 

  • Relevant qualification or experience in landscape construction

  • Help coordinate and organise the daily ongoing maintenance of both earthmoving equipment and vehicles
